[i–iv] v–xviii [xix–xx], [1–2] 3–195 [196]: [6] leaves of colour plates (facing pp. [iii], 12, 76, 100, 156 and 173). Type: Berling. Printed and bound by L.E.G.O. in full pale gold cloth printed in black and red with a design by Burckhardt; red endleaves. Pale brown slip case blocked in blue. Follows the first UK edition of 1952, which contained 16 stories, two fewer than the edition published in the USA the previous year.
