Frequently Asked Questions
If you can’t find what you need below, please contact us via the contact form or email. (Email is best for detailed questions about condition and editions.)
Shipping & delivery
Where do you ship?
We currently ship Australia-wide and New Zealand. If you’re outside Australia, contact us before ordering and we’ll confirm whether we can ship to your location.
Where do orders ship from?
Orders ship from Perth, Western Australia (AWST).
How quickly do you dispatch?
We aim to dispatch within [1–2 business days]. During busy periods this may be slightly longer, but we’ll keep you updated.
Do you provide tracking?
Yes - tracked shipping is used for orders by default where available. Your tracking details are provided once the parcel is lodged.
How are books packed?
Books are packed for collectors, with protection for corners and edges. Slipcases and illustrated editions receive extra padding to reduce movement in transit.
Can you combine shipping on multiple books?
Yes. If you’re purchasing multiple items, shipping is combined where practical. If the checkout shipping looks higher than expected, contact us and we’ll confirm the best option.
Do you offer local pickup?
No - Fine Press Finds is online-only and we don’t offer walk-ins, pickups, or drop-offs.
Condition, editions & photos
How do you grade condition?
We describe condition in plain language and call out notable issues clearly. Condition notes typically cover the book and the slipcase/dust jacket separately.
Will you photograph any flaws?
Yes - when there are notable marks or wear, we aim to show them in close-up photos. If you want a specific angle or detail, message us and we can usually provide an extra photo.
What should I expect with Folio Society slipcases?
Slipcases often show the earliest signs of wear (rubbing, bumps, light marks), even when the book itself is excellent. If there’s meaningful slipcase wear, it will be noted.
How do I know which edition/printing it is?
Where relevant, listings note the edition/printing and key identifiers (for example, a printing statement or limitation page). If you’re comparing multiple editions, ask and we’ll help confirm the details.
How do you grade book condition?
We use five condition categories across our website and marketplace listings: Brand New, Like New, Very Good, Good, and Acceptable.
These grades are intended to give a clear overall summary, and we also include specific notes and photographs where needed so you can judge a copy more accurately.
Brand New
A Brand New book is new, unread, and unused, with no signs of wear.
Where applicable, it should be in the same clean state you would expect from a new retail copy.
Like New
A Like New book may have been opened or lightly handled, but it remains close to new in appearance. It should show little to no visible wear and no significant flaws.
Very Good
A Very Good book has been read or handled but remains in excellent overall condition.
It may show minor signs of wear, such as light rubbing, faint shelf wear, or small imperfections, but nothing that materially affects presentation or readability.
Good
A Good book is a sound, complete copy with clear signs of use.
It may have noticeable wear to the binding, boards, slipcase, or dust jacket, but all pages should be present and the book should still be fully readable and structurally serviceable.
Acceptable
An Acceptable book has obvious signs of wear and is the lowest condition we use for saleable copies. It may include heavier rubbing, bumps, creasing, annotations, minor stains, or other defects, but it remains complete enough to be read and handled. Any major issues will be described clearly in the listing.
A note on collectible books
Because we sell collectible and fine press editions, even small faults can matter, so the written description and photos should always be read alongside the headline grade.

Refund method: Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method (once the return is received and checked).
Return shipping: Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility for change-of-mind returns.
Not as described / damaged in transit: If an item arrives not as described or is damaged in transit, contact us and we’ll make it right. Please message within 48 hours of delivery and include photos of the packaging and the item.

Ordering
Can you hold/reserve a book?
Because many items are one-of-a-kind, we generally don’t hold items. If you need a short hold, contact us and we’ll let you know what’s possible.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
Gift wrapping is not currently offered as a standard option. If you’re buying a gift and want a plain packing slip or a short note included, contact us before ordering.
