Details
Ulysses by James Joyce, preface by Stephen James Joyce, introduction by Jacques Aubert, with etchings by Mimmo Paladino. 240 × 170 × 50 mm. Pp. [i–v] vi–xix [xx–xxii], [1–3] 4–735 [736–738]: [18] leaves of two-colour plates. Type: Old Style. Printed by the Bath Press, the plates by the Norton Press. Bound by the Bath Press in full blue cloth with a design in gold, black and white (reproducing one of Paladino’s illustrations); dark blue endleaves. Dark blue slip case. The text is a carefully cleaned
and corrected facsimile of the edition published in Paris in 1926, with new prefatory matter typeset by Folio. The etchings were originally printed on gold leaf for a limited edition published in Munich. They are reprinted here lithographically, with one repeated in a reduced format on the binding; two different gold inks were used, in addition to black, in an attempt to reproduce the depth and glow of the originals.
