Bound by Real Lachenmaier in quarter dark brown Indian goatskin leather with printed cloth slides. Gilded top edge. Pale brown endleaves. Dark brown clamshell box with printed cloth illustration inset on front and spine titled in gold. The edition statement reads in part ‘limited to 1250 numbered copies for sale to members of The Folio Society, and 25 lettered copies which are not for sale’. Reproduces all of Hugo’s 36 original illustrations, which are now held by the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
