Sophie's World - Jostein Gaarder - Folio Society - 2019

Anonymous letters introduce Sophie, a Norwegian teenager, to questions about existence and the history of philosophy. As the lessons develop, the circumstances surrounding them become a mystery of their own. Jostein Gaarder combines an introduction to major thinkers with a story that encourages readers to question apparently obvious assumptions. Sophie’s growing curiosity connects abstract ideas with personal experience, turning the effort to understand the world into an investigation of her own place within it.
