Histories, The - Herodotus - Folio Society - 2006

Herodotus investigates the conflicts between Persia and the Greek cities while exploring the peoples and places connected with them. Accounts of rulers, battles and political decisions are interwoven with observations on customs, landscapes and competing explanations of the past. The Histories moves across a broad ancient world, asking how power is acquired, why communities come into conflict and how human choices contribute to events whose consequences extend far beyond their beginnings.
