Apuleius, the golden ass, or metamorphoses, translated with notes by E.J. Kenney, introduced by James Wood, illustrations by Quentin Blake. 282 × 220 × 33 mm. Pp. [i–8] 9–250 [251–254]: [1] plate (facing p. [vii]). Type: Poliphilus and Blado. Printed and bound by Kösel. Full dark brown Indian goatskin leather blocked in gold with a distinctive Blake rabbit; dark red endleaves. Dark red slip case blocked in gold with titling designed in Blake’s hand. The edition statement reads in part ‘limited to 1000 copies signed and numbered by the artist for sale to members of The Folio Society, and 25 lettered copies which are not for sale’. Blake has signed each one. In addition to 12 full-page colour illustrations, Blake has provided 34 smaller drawings.
