Complete Plays of William Shakespeare, The - William Shakespeare - Folio Society - 2024

This collection prints the dramatic works attributed to Shakespeare: the English history cycle from the Wars of the Roses through Henry VIII, the comedies of courtship and disguise, the Roman and Greek plays, the major tragedies, and the late romances. Settings range from Venice, Rome, and Elsinore to the Forest of Arden and an island after a wreck. Recurring concerns are kingship, succession, jealousy, law, and the making and unmaking of marriages. The volume is a library of plays meant for performance, not a single plot. The texts belong to the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.
